"I live in Chicago, so Batavia is a nice break from the congestion of the city . It's a very pleasant town, and the trails along the river are really nice to run on. The timing is also perfect, as it coincides with most training schedules f or f all marathons. The spectators are great - residents come out of their houses at 7 AM on a Sunday to cheer on total strangers, which is wonderful. Most of the aid stations are manned by kids and teens, which really gives the race a community f eel. The police coordination both years that I ran has been perfect - motorists were stopped well before I needed to cross, so I always felt very safe. And of course the best part (please don't ever change this) - the last three miles are downhill. That makes for a very PR-friendly race (this year I improved my PR by almost 6 minutes!!) And f rankly , I lo e the hills on the course too. Also, the race results were up right away, which was awesome."
